How to Manifest with the Moon Phases

Let’s talk about the power of the moon. The moon is able to use it’s gravitational pull to affect the tides, the length of the days, and even our own emotions! Have you ever heard people talking about how crazy people get during a full moon? I strongly believe that it is because there is an additional surge of energy around that time that most people don’t know what to do with because they are not aware of what is happening around them on this energetic scale.

I have been talking quite a bit about the zodiac, moon, and planets on Instagram lately, but what does it all mean? I wanted to create a quick and easy post that explains the 8 moon phases and how to use them to best manifest your wildest dreams, so that you can all follow along with me and tap into your greatest potential as we cycle through together.

While you can set intentions at anytime doing so with the moon phases simply helps to harness in the energy of the moon to put more power behind the intention. Use these moon phases as a guide for setting your intentions, but feel free to also make adjustments and practice as you see fit. If you are here and reading this it is because you are a spiritual being and your intuition lead you here, so let it lead the way! It is the diving right time for you to be learning about this.

New Moon 🌑

Start Anew and Set Intentions

The new moon represents the the first phase of a new lunar cycle. During this time the moon appears “dark” or “invisible”. This occurs because the moon is positioned directly between the earth and the sun, so only the side facing directly away from us is illuminated.

The new moon is known to symbolize new beginnings, and it is the most powerful time to cleanse, turn the page, and start over. This is your clean slate. It is when you want to dig deep and get in touch with the core of who you are. Connect with your most authentic self and start thinking about what your deepest desires are so that you can set intentions and watch your seeds grow.

Waxing Crescent 🌒

Plan and Conceptualize

The waxing crescent represents the second phase of the lunar cycle. During this time only a sliver of the moon is seen from our position. It appears as though it is starting to illuminate or grow!

This phase is all about generating (growing) new ideas. An abundance of creative energy is available to you to and within your reach. Use it to help conceptualize how you are going to make things happen. Focus on the details and plan it out. Don’t let anything distract you.

First Quarter 🌓

Take Action

The first quarter is the third phase of the lunar cycle. During this phase the moon has really put in the work to get going! It traveled one quarter around the earth now appearing half illuminated due it is positioned 90 degrees away from the sun.

This phase is where you want to take action! It is all about growth, strength, and getting the ball rolling. Tap into the energy of the moon and use it to get the momentum you need to put all of your attention in to conquering any challenges or obstacles in your way. Put in the hard work now so that you can relax and reap the rewards later.

Waxing Gibbous 🌔

Refine Your Intentions

The waxing gibbous is the fourth phase of the lunar cycle. The waxing gibbous appears more than half illuminated, but it is not quite full yet. This occurs when only a sliver of the moon is left unlit. It appears as the polar opposite to a waxing crescent.

After the intensity of the action packed first quarter it’s time to take a step back and analyze your progress. This phase is all about refining your technique. Figure out what is working and what is not. Be patient with yourself. Take the time you need to nurture yourself, so that you can reevaluate with a fresh set of eyes and take a new course of action where needed.

Full Moon 🌕

Recharge and Celebrate

The full moon is the fifth phase of the lunar cycle. During this phase the moon appears full illuminated from our point of view here on Earth. This occurs because the moon is directly opposite the sun with it’s illuminated side facing Earth.

Moon energy is at it’s peak during this phase! It is a time of blessings and celebrations. This is when you get to use the plentiful power available to you to heal and recharge. Be joyful for all that you have manifested, and release anything that no longer serves you so that you can make more room for things that fulfill you.

Wanning Gibbous 🌖

Show Appreciation and Gratitude

The waning gibbous is the sixth phase of the lunar cycle. During this phase the moon appears to be getting smaller because it is less illumunated. It is not quite full anymore, but it still appears more than half full.

The energy of the waning gibbous is similar to that of harvest. It is a time to count your blessings. Know that what was meant for you in this moment has been manifested, and that it was not time for anything that has not. Be grateful for all that you have accomplished, manifested, and celebrated under the full moon. Think about any limiting beliefs you had. Take note of how you overcame them so that you can continue to thrive, and can share this nourishing information with others so that we can all flourish together next cycle.

Last Quarter 🌗

Release and Let Go

The last quarter is the seventh phase of the lunar cycle. During this phase the moon has reached the third (270 degrees) or last quarter orbit around the sun. It appears similar to the first quarter moon, but with the opposite side of the moon now illuminated.

The quarter moon is said to symbolize the illumination of the half that is holding us back. As such, this phase is all about breaking bad habits and releasing any negative energy in your field. This means turning inwards to do shadow work. It also represents a time of forgiveness. Forgive yourself and others for any wrongdoings or misunderstandings so that you can move forward. Let it go, and lean forward into the possibility of a brighter future.

Waning Crescent 🌘

Rest and Restore

The waning crescent is the eighth and final phase of the lunar cycle. During this phase only a sliver of the moon is illuminated. The moon appears to be shrinking down to it’s smallest form before disappearing and starting all over again under the new moon.

Similar to the moon we also want to use this phase to hide away and protect most of our light. This is not a time to shine. It is a time wind down before beginning anew. Our intuition is at an all time high during this stage of the cycle, so get in touch with yourself and figure out what your body needs most to surrender and feel nourished. This is a great time to get back into your favourite spiritual practices, or to simply just relax!
